Meet Ann la Plante

B.A. University of North Dakota December 1974 Magna Cum Laude
J.D. University of North Dakota May 1978 with Distinction

I have worked for a combined eleven years for Legal Assistance of North Dakota and Colorado Rural Legal Services (now Colorado Legal Services). I established my firm in Greeley, Colorado in September 1995. I primarily practice criminal law and landlord/tenant law. On occasion, I also handle an unemployment insurance case. Through my experience in the two legal service programs and in my twenty-three years of private practice, I have gained much experience in negotiating favorable outcomes for clients.

My tag line is: “The ‘P’ in la Plante is for Persistence.” I encourage my clients to take steps to use as a learning experience what often appears to be a negative experience. I call it a “social work approach.”

I volunteer to mediate evictions and small claims court cases regularly and have been given the “Andrew Borg Award” and the “Co-Mediator of the Year Award” during my time in Weld county.  I enjoy helping people set aside their anger and angst to come to a resolution of these important civil cases. I typically handle the eviction cases because of my many years of experience in that field of the law. I find this more rewarding than the many boards I have served on over the years.
